When it comes right down to it, the pat you give yourself on the back means a lot more to your well being than the pat anyone else gives you. For, if you are secure in your own capability and self-worth, what others think truly doesn't matter after all.

I would much rather have a self-induced case of great self esteem than a half-hearted, cursory, insincere thank-you or recognition from anyone else. While it is mans nature and genetic disposition to desire the approval of others, it is Gods nature and Divine disposition to want us to see the immense worth and limitless possibilities within ourselves.

Through granting ourselves the freedom to make errors, correct our numerous faults, and recognizing the treasure within, we achieve a state of grace that brings us nearer to the divinity within us. However, by expecting the approval of others while not approving of ourselves, we diminish the possibility that we can achieve true serenity.

From inner peace and confidence comes the joy God desires for us all.
